Keep transparency when converting images
Choose the output format deliberately so logos and graphics keep the intended background.
Know which formats support alpha
PNG and WebP support transparent pixels. JPG does not. In Purow, exporting to JPG places transparent regions over white. This can be useful for a white document but unsuitable for an icon on a dark interface.
Watch the margins
Fit mode can add transparent margins around an image whose proportions do not match the requested dimensions. Crop mode fills the whole area and removes the edges instead. The result preview uses a checkerboard to help identify transparency.
Semi-transparent edges may look different on a light and dark background. Inspect the actual exported image in both contexts if it will be reused across themes. Do not assume that a white area in the original is transparent.
Pick the right source
Converting a JPG to PNG does not recreate transparency. Use an original image with an alpha channel. Purow does not remove backgrounds automatically. If the source has a solid background, use a suitable image editor first.
