What metadata cleaning can and cannot do

A fresh export removes source metadata without making the visible image anonymous.

Understand the hidden fields

Some photos include EXIF fields such as camera model, exposure, date and GPS coordinates. IPTC or XMP may include authorship, captions and editing information. These fields are distinct from visible text, signs, faces and landmarks inside the picture.

How Purow creates a clean image

Purow decodes the source and encodes a fresh canvas export. It does not copy the source EXIF, GPS, IPTC or XMP fields. The output can still contain basic encoding information such as dimensions, resolution or format-specific headers.

Re-encoding is not a byte-preserving operation. JPG and lossy WebP may change pixels. PNG is useful when you want a lossless export of the decoded canvas; colour handling may still differ from an original editor workflow. Check orientation and colour in the result.

Check before sharing

Download the output and inspect it with your normal file information or metadata viewer. Review visible personal details separately. Metadata removal does not waive copyright, remove ownership or anonymise faces. Only process files you are authorised to edit.
