Fit or crop without stretching

Two images can have the same output dimensions and very different composition.

Fit preserves the whole image

Fit scales uniformly until the entire source fits inside the selected width and height. If aspect ratios differ, space remains at two edges. Purow exports those margins as transparent pixels for PNG and WebP, or white for JPG.

For example, fitting a 1,600 × 900 photo into 1,000 × 1,000 preserves the landscape composition. The photo occupies a shorter rectangle inside the square.

Centre crop fills the frame

Crop scales uniformly until the selected rectangle is completely filled. Edges outside the rectangle are removed symmetrically. A 1,600 × 900 photo cropped to a square loses content on the left and right.

This tool uses a centre crop; it does not detect faces or offer a movable focal point. If the subject is near an edge, inspect the preview carefully or prepare a custom crop in a full image editor.

Avoid unnecessary enlargement

Making a small source larger adds pixels but cannot restore missing detail. Set dimensions for the actual destination and compare the downloaded image. Purow limits output to 8,192 pixels per side and 24 megapixels to keep browser memory use manageable.
